The company Fulda was founded in 1900 in the German city of the same name by Gustav Becker and Moritz Hasenclever. In 1906, Fulda began manufacturing tires for bicycles and motor vehicles—an area of business that soon became its core focus. In 1921, Fulda filed a patent for truck tires designed to better handle road conditions, enabling trucks to travel at higher speeds for the first time. This patented truck tire became the most widely used in Europe; even competing manufacturers such as Continental and Dunlop produced the same tire under license from Fulda.

Shortly after celebrating its 50th anniversary, the company launched its first tire with the M+S marking, followed by its first motorcycle tire in 1954. The year 1966 marked a major milestone for Fulda when it was acquired by the American manufacturer Goodyear. Further innovations followed, such as the Kristall Winter in 1973—the first studless radial winter tire. Today, Fulda is a benchmark brand-name manufacturer whose technology and driving performance achieve premium quality standards.
