The "United States Rubber Company" was founded in 1892 in Naugatuck (USA) and renamed Uniroyal in 1966. In 1985, the company merged its American operations with those of B.F. Goodrich, forming the Uniroyal Goodrich Tire Company. A few years later, in 1990, Michelin acquired Goodrich and the Uniroyal tire brand. Today, Uniroyal tires are produced by Michelin for the American market and by Continental in Europe.

For thirty years, Uniroyal was the benchmark manufacturer for wet-weather tires. In 1969, the first rain tire of this type, the rallye 180, was introduced and fully met consumer expectations. Further innovations, such as the directional tread design of the rallye RTT 1 launched in 1991, were subsequently adopted by competitors. These breakthroughs secured Uniroyal an outstanding position among international competitors worldwide. In France, for example, Uniroyal is recognized by 7 out of 10 people.
